First time outside Luxembourg

The biggest challenge from time to time is to understand what scouts from other countries express. Nevertheless, the scouts from Luxembourg have been busy exchanging bades during the swopping on Monday. English has been spoken and when needed added with sign language.
Pinochio-soccer and climbing wall are popular

Morten Augustinussen, one of the scouts behind the activities, has noticed a lot of pleased scouts during the week and also that they are very keen on trying different activities. His impression is that there is a lot of enthusiasm and happy and pleased leaders. Morten´s greatest wish is that the children like the different activities and consider them great fun. However, he suggest Your reported to ask the children, and so we do…
The atmosphere is true Blue

Latest news from the camp site (Thursday at lunch time) is that the atmosphere is true Blue. All scouts are busy, as some have recently returned home for a hike, and suddenly a hot showers gets very attractive! Others are getting prepared for a big water fight and all are looking forward to tonight´s scouts´ ball. To put it briefly: the atmosphere is true Blue!
Buckets of pop-corn

A good film must, obviously, be combined with some popcorn. When it comes to popcorn for approximately two hundred persons, it can appear to be a problem not having enough bowls. Fortunately, buckets used by bricklayers are available. Do not worry, as the buckets have not been used for other purposes. In case you would like to prepare popcorn for a little less than two hundred persons, take the recipe and multiply it by 50!
Disney Day

While junior scouts and those being older for some time had left the camp site in order to go for hike, the youngest scouts took advantage of this and spend Wednesday participating in Disneydag. Here Robin Hood and Winnie the Pooh and others invited the scouts to try different activities.
Winnie the Pooh, always keen on sweet things, asked for help. With great enthusiasm the youngest participants in the jamboree took up this challenge – even while being blindfolded. You may probably be able to imagine what was to be tasted…
Robin Hood invited all that were on top of the world to a fight with Little John. It was not with a sword and blade nor with arrow and curve. On the contrary, it was a flight with pillows on a log. It was a very popular thing.
Robin Hood is a nice guy, and he even equipped all the children with a green hat. This hat appeared later on to be very useful for the purpose of storing popcorn!
Scouts help Winnie-the-Pooh

No doubt that scouts are willing to help and assist you if needed. This is exactly the same impression Winnie-the-Pooh had during the activities on Wednesday. He asked the smaillest scouts to assist him by tasting some of the sweet he had in order to determine what it really was. The challenge was taken right away by the scouts who were more than willing to taste the sweets a la Kims-style (not able to see anything when tasting). By the way, it is quite easy to imagine that it was honey being tasted.
A taste of something international

Tuesday was International Day held in a true Blue atmosphere. Starting already in the morning the camp site seemed to be busy from scouts moving around and getting ready to welcome guests. All scouts were supposed to move around in the campsite and visit other groups. It was an invitation that all scouts accepted.
Mosbjerg Times for the 2nd time

The world´s smallest newspaper with a circulation of 1,200 copies published three times in a week, is now presenting the 2nd volume. You can also find the newspaper here on the website if you enter the library with newsletters.
What is left is the ultimative final edition. The presentation has been changed from Saturday in the morning and Mosbjerg Times will instead be out Friday night. The editorial staff is currently busy writing the final newspaper. Also, the scouts at the camp have been very pleased with the newspaper that already has a huge demand. The readers have also been very helpful with suggestions, photos, and text for the newspaper.
One minute of silence
Scouts taking part in this years´ jamboree expressed their symphaty in memory of the victims in Norway Monday at noon. The message was announced on the wide screen in the camp and by messages passed on to the many spots where activities were taking place. Let´s have a break
Scouts swopping
No doubt that scouts are always ready and – of course – also ready for swopping. Dozens of scouts seemed quite ready when being invited for Swopping Monday evening. Here a lot of scouts from both Denmark and other countries met, had a smalltalk and most important of all exchanged badges. No need to miss
For 23 Swedish scouts and their leaders from Skövde there is no need to miss anyone. Partly, because Mosbjerg in Denmark is not that far away from home. And partly because they have been preparing this situation. All scouts have brought their own teddies. Making new friendsThere are many ways to make new friends. An alternative way has been observed realized by three girls from Northern Ireland. The way to do it is to sit down on one of bridges connecting the camp site on both sides of a floating water. Since the people passing by have to concentrate to find a way through, it is at the same time an obvious way to start talking. All observations seem to work. The girls made contacts to many new friends in less than an hour. That is the way to do it. The neighbour showed upSunday was the official opening of VJ2011, where also neighbours and other taking an interest in scout life could come by and get a guided tour to the camp. App. 35 Mosbjerg-citizens took advantage of this offer to get an impression of what VJ2011 is like. VJ2011 – of course – was host for a drink. Many of the guest said that it had been exciting and that they would like to return again later. Kitchen in the open – populare againAt a certion time a new garden was hot, then focus was getting on a new bathroom and later a new kitchen. At the beginning it was, of course, a kitchen inside the house. Later on and for quite a period the trend was kitchens in the open. Now we can report to you that kitchens in the open have become populare again.
The scouts from Brundurs Gruppe have organized the campsite with a kitchen in the open. It gives the scouts a great opportunity to prepare som delicious meals. According to scout leader Karen Vejby, already on Saturday the first delicious meal was prepared. “We made it all in our new kitchen”, Karen Vejby says while being busy getting the camp site organized. Jamboree at a high paceVendelbo Jamboree is in its 3rd day at a high pace. After the official opening on Sunday and an extensive program with plenty of activities until late in the night, the scene is set for another day with many activities from morning til late in the afternoon. After dinner all international and Danish scouts have the chance to do swopping. Here it is possible to meet, make new friends, and exchange badges. |
