True Blue Action

All prayers for decent weather have apparently been heard, since the sun is now shining on this year’s Vendelbo Jamboree. Here more than 1,000 scouts from Denmark and seven other countries are gathered for “scout life beyond borders”. Thus the scene is set for true blue action!

Sunday at 10 am it was time for the official opening of the jamboree. The mayor of Hjørring Municipality, Mr. Arne Boelt, declared the jamboree for open. He also took the opportunity to thank all the volunteers that have made the jamboree a reality. He was not only directing his gratitude to the jamboree leaders, Ann and Martin, but also to the about 100 volunteers that have done a great job. The mayor was very pleased about their enthusiasm.

Then it was time for the jamboree leaders to welcome all scouts. Ann asked Martin what he was thinking when saying “scouts beyond all borders”. Martin promptly replied that for him it means that we will be having a lot of great experiences the whole week.

Ann agreed with Martin. Then she added that this jamboree will be a lot of “back to basic scouting”, “international scouting”, and “fantasy scouting”. Both jamboree leaders were very satisfied about the fact that this many scouts were joining together in the same place. This was a popular statement among all scouts who expressed their enthusiasm with high cheers.

In high spirits, nice weather, the right spirit, the song of the jamboree was song before everyone participated in a small singing game where the scouts could greet one another – true blue action!

Vendelbo Jamboree is an international jamboree, so a heartfelt and warm welcome to all Danish and International scouts. “So look at all the smiling faces, laughing having fun”. The jamboree has started!
