History
The story of the Vendelbo Jamborees.
The team behind the Vendelbo Jamboree 2011 is far in the planning of the camp and is looking forward to meet all the scouts and guides, who arrive on Saturday the 23rd of July 2011. But this is not the first Jamboree, which is held in the Vendelbo Division. In fact it is the 8th international Jamboree, which has been planned in the Northern part of Denmark. The camps have been kept every 4. or 5. year, and we have invited wide both in Denmark and abroad. We have a tradition for many foreign scouts and guides visiting our camp.
The first Jamboree was held in Bjørnager in 1978 and the camp was at that time planned and settled by the Vendelbo Veterans (a clan of previous leaders in the Vendelbo Divison). The camp was a great success, so soon the planning of another Jamboree in 1983 was started, this year the campsite was in Tornby Plantation. Next in 1988 a Jamboree was held in Skagen and the Northsea-jamboree in Skallerup in 1992.
Later the Vendelbo Division bought some land in Mosbjerg, 9870 Sindal, and here they founded Mosbjerg Scoutcenter. The Jamborees of 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2011 are now held on this land. The area is quite good with a varied nature and vegetation- extra land is rented in connection to the camp. During the summer a camp is built, and during the week of the camp the number of inhabitants in Mosbjerg is doubled.
As time has gone the team behind the Jamboree has changed. In 2007 the organization behind the camp consisted of scouts from both the Vendelbo Divison and the Vendelbo Veterans. This year the team has been built of scouts from the Vendelbo Veterans and Klan Nordlys (seniorscouts from Vendelbo Division).
